The Louisiana State Police with the assistance of the Baton Rouge Police Department Bomb Squad and Port Allen Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious package Saturday morning at the WBR Parish Library. After several hours and road closures, authorities announced the unattended briefcase left at the entrance was not an explosive.
The briefcase contained six pairs of headphones and a small fire extinguisher.
Surveillance video shows an approximately six-foot-tall black male circling the library for about 40 minutes early Saturday morning, authorities said. Around 4:40 a.m. the man set the briefcase down in the walkway of the entrance to the building and left the scene on foot. He wore jeans, a collared shirt and a baseball cap pulled down to cover his eyes and nose.
There were no threats reported or previously terminated employees, authorities said. A suspect has not been identified at this time.
