It’s time again for another annual favorite of young softball players in the parish. Tuesday, May 29 through Friday, June 1, softball players will have the chance to play on a field of champions. Softball players ages 5 to 12 will take the field at the Brusly High My-U Field for the Lady Panthers’ annual softball camp.
Camp participants will be coached by former Lady Panthers stars Shelby Willis, Maddie Laprarie, Lady Tigers softball team member Kyana Thymes and current members of the Brusly softball team under the supervision of Brusly High head softball coach Beau Bouvier. Thymes is a member of the LSU Lady Tiger softball team.
“We want to improve the skills of the girls over here in West Baton Rouge,” Bouvier said. “It’s just improving the skills of each girl year after year.”
This is the fourth consecutive year the camp has been offered to softball players of the parish.
Every aspect of the game of softball is covered each day. Campers are separated into training groups based on age and skill level and rotate through fundamental skill stations. Each skill station provides campers an opportunity to learn and perfect the basics of throwing, hitting, catching, and running the bases. Campers also get time on the field to play in instructional scrimmage games.
The camp is from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
Registration forms are available at the Brusly High School front office or at the field on the first day of camp. The cost for the camp is $100 per participant.
All skill levels are encouraged to attend whether recreational or travel ball players.
