Former Brusly High baseball stars Evan Daigle and Connor Manola have been spending their summer off from college baseball playing with the Acadiana Cane Cutters.
The Cane Cutters play in the Texas Collegiate League which is a collegiate, summer baseball league designed to give the top professional prospects a chance to play in a minor-league baseball atmosphere while maintaining their amateur status.
The team is based out of Fabacher Field at Southside Regional Park in Youngsville, Louisiana.
In the last game of a four-game homestand this past weekend, the Cane Cutters completed the sweep against the Texarcana Twins with a score of 7-2.
Daigle, a 2016 BHS graduate who just finished his sophomore year with the Northwestern State Demons, was named Powerade Player of the game after throwing six scoreless innings and allowing just two hits and striking out six batters.
Manola, a 2017 BHS grad and red-shirt freshman for the Southeastern Lions, caught for Daigle after two years apart.
Daigle and Manola were staples of the Brusly High Panthers baseball team and were nearly unbeatable as a pitching and catching pair during their years at BHS.
Fans who may find themselves in the Acadiana area can catch the pair in play after the All-Star break when they return to action on July 8th at Fabacher Field in Youngsville at 7:00 p.m. The Cane Cutters are chasing their 4th consecutive TCL Championship.
