Collins lands in Sound Off top 20

On Saturday, March 7, a Port Allen woman will have the opportunity to chase her dreams of stardom when she competes in the finale of a singing competition, where she will have the opportunity to win $50,000 and a trip to Los Angeles to audition for NBC’s hit television show “The Voice.”

Shelbe Collins, 25, was pushed through to the top 20 in the “McDonald’s Sound Off” competition, presented by Cumulus Broadcasting and the Horseshoe, and will compete Saturday in Shreveport to become the Sound Off champ.

Many considered the team’s state title hopes down for the count when they headed into action at the Louisiana High School Wrestling Championship Meet at the Pontchartrain Center.
