West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Friday afternoon in the murder of a 15-year-old Addis boy, according to Col. Richie Johson.
Johnson said Lucien Thompson, 22, who has a Plaquemine address but was living in Addis at the time, was arrested and booked on one count of second-degree murder after allegedly shooting and killing Tyreke Lemar, 15, a resident of the Riverboat Lane Mobile Home Park in Addis.
Johnson said the shooting, which took place around 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Riverbend Lane Mobile Home Park in Addis, took place during an alleged confrontation Thompson was having with Lemar about a burglary attempt.
According to Johnson, Thompson’s testimony alleges Lemar and two others tried to burglarize his mobile home in Riverbend.
“The interview I had with (Thompson) the other day, he tried to make himself out to be this big victim; well in this case, he goes down and seeks out the altercation because he’s got that ‘iron courage’ in his pants,” Johnson said. “Had he not had that pistol, he’d have never gone out there and sought out this altercation.” Johnson said that under questioning, Thompson admitted to shooting Lemar.
“It’s an unfortunate situation anytime something like this happens,” Johnson said. “You’ve got a juvenile that’s no longer here because of gunplay.” Thompson was booked into the Parish Prison on one count of second-degree murder. His bail was not set at the time of publication.
