Six arrested in Port Allen drug bust

The West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Port Allen Police Department, arrested six people Thursday afternoon, May 16, during a drug bust at 1130 Georgia St. in Port Allen.

Quintion Lawson, 22, of 1130 Georgia St. in Port Allen; Kenneth Christian, 18, of the same address; Gerald “Jetty” Lawson, 48, of 908 Walters St. in Lafayette, La.; Tehran Lawson, 26, of 17985 Willow St. in Gross Tete, La.; and Carmen Lawson, 47, of 1130 Georgia St. in Port Allen were each arrested and booked in the West Baton Rouge Parish Prison on drug charges.

Charles Ranel, 40, of 1014 Michigan St. in Port Allen was arrested and charged with resisting an officer.

Port Allen Police Chief, Esdron Brown said that neighbors of the house that was raided told him of possible drug activity in the home during the time he was campaigning to become chief.

“There are several more inside the city limits that are destroying neighborhoods,” Brown claimed, adding that he has an eye on several other properties in Port Allen that may be host to drug activity.

“We continue to need the public to assist us to get the city cleaned up,” Brown said. “Citizens are tired of it. The police department is tired of it. We have a zero tolerance when it comes to drugs.”

Quintion Lawson was charged with one felony count each of possession of heroin, possession of codeine, possession with intent to distribute synthetic cannabinoids and possession of hydrocodone; and one misdemeanor count each of possession of drugs and illegal use of a controlled substance.

Kenneth Christian was charged with one felony count each of possession with intent to distribute a schedule 2 narcotic (Hydrocodone), possession of codeine and possession of heroin; and one misdemeanor count each of possession of marijuana, illegal use of a controlled substance and possession of drugs.

Gerald Lawson was charged with one felony count each of possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of codeine and possession of heroin; and one misdemeanor count each of illegal use of controlled substance, possession of drugs and disturbing the peace.

Tehran Lawson was charged with one felony count each of possession with intent to distribute, possession of heroin, and possession of codeine; and one misdemeanor count each of possession of drugs and illegal use of a controlled substance.

Carmen Lawson was charged with one felony count each of possession of heroin and possession of codeine; and one misdemeanor count each of possession of drugs and illegal use of a controlled substance.
