She passed away at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, in her residence. She was 73.

She was born in Maringouin and was a resident of Addis. She was a retired food tech for the LSU Athletic Dept. Visiting was 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at True Worshipers Christian Center. Visiting continued from 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, until service at 11 a.m. at Hall's Celebration Center. Rev. Lawrence Porterie officiated. Interment was at Old Folk Home Cemetery in Port Allen, La. Survivors include her husband, Greg Thomas; daughter, Demetric L. Slaughter; sons James Ronald Daniel, Norbert Daniel and Darren Daniel; brothers Emmerick Porterie and Alton Porterie; grandchildren, Sidney Thomas, Rochelle Daniel, Kalen Daniel, Colby Daniel, Kaleigh Daniel, Lemuel "Lem" Slaughter, Jeremy Slaughter and Kadeisha M.R. Slaughter. She was preceded in death by her father, Emmerick Porterie Sr.; mother, Beatrice Trusclair Porterie; brothers, Alfred Porterie, Edward Porterie, Albert Porterie; sisters Geraldine Porterie and Maggie Porterie Lands; and nephew Dormia R.
