A retired owner and operator of Powell Chevron, where he was a mechanic for 17 years in Natchez, MS.
Odell passed away at his home in Port Allen on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 4:00 a.m., at the age of 72. He was a native of Columbia, MS and resident of Port Allen, LA. He was an Army Veteran. Visiting was at Wilbert Funeral Home in Port Allen on Thursday, February 20, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m. Visiting continued at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia, MS on Friday, February 21st, from 4 to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday, February 22nd, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Odell is survived by his wife, Lottie Lowery Powell; his 3 children, Lisa Powell, Tammy Sanders and husband Mike and Ricky Powell; 1 step-daughter, Rebecca Hamilton Simoneaux and husband Darin; 1 sister, Ethel Jones; 1 brother, Frank Powell; step-grandchildren, Melinda Lough, Leric and Legind Lough; numerous nieces and nephews. Odell was preceded in death by his parents, Berley and Letha Bedwell Powell; step-children, Diane Morrison and Kenneth Hamilton; wife, Agnes Powell; daughter-in-law, Cathy Powell. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
