A native of Slaughter, LA, and resident of Greensburg, LA, she passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014, at age 59.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, wife, friend who will be missed immensely. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Paxton-Rushing and son-in-law Byron Rushing; sisters, Gail Garner of Magnolia MS - wife of L.J. Garner; Pat Alford of Kentwood - wife of Paul Alford, Lou Coots of Erwinville - wife of Richard Coots, Gin Dake of Walker - wife of David Dake; brothers, James E. Bates of Slaughter - married to Cindy Fazande Bates; grandchildren, Tyler Scott East, Victoria Layne East; numerous nieces, nephews, great nephews and a great niece. Preceded in death by two sons, Tommy Paxton, Scotty Paxton; parents, Mr. and Mrs. James "Buddy" Bates, all of Slaughter, LA. Pallbearers were Barry Brasseaux, Phillip Rogers, Bud Alford, Hunter Bates, Rivers Bates. Honorary pallbearers were Samson Dake, Owen Burgo, Eli Nguyen, Ethan Rogers, Melia Nguyen, Kamryn Burgo, Nicholas Burgo, Hayze Cedotal. Visitation was at First Baptist Church, Slaughter, on Monday, Mar. 24, from 9 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m. conducted by Pastor Basil Wicker. Interment in family cemetery in Ethel, LA.
