A resident of Baton Rouge, he died on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at age 78.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 18, 2014, from noon until 4pm at Grant's Westside Funeral Services. Visitation resumed on Saturday, 9am until funeral service at 11a.m. at Nazarene Baptist Church in Addis, conducted by Rev. Lawrence Philson. Interment was in Nazarene Baptist Church Cemetery. Lucien, or "L.B." as he was affectionately known; leaves to cherish his memories; his daughter, Althea R. Collins (Norman Sr.) of Baton Rouge; four sons, Lucien Hamilton, III of Brusly, Karl Hamilton (Deborah), Lambert Hamilton of Baton Rouge and Wendell Hamilton of Port Allen; step-son, Sherman X. Haddock of Los Angeles; four sisters, Wilfret H. Lorraine of St. Gabriel, Naomi H. Winzey of Los Angeles, Joyce H. Butler of Addis and Janet H. Lewis (Oscar) of Fayetteville; surrogate brother, Gilbert Luke (April) of Laplace; two godchildren, Lawrence Williams and Cedric K. Hampton Jr.; devoted friend, Helen Ambeau of St. Gabriel; 21 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Luchell Hamilton Burke; two sisters, Hazel H. Ben and Audrey M. Jacobs; parents, Lucien Sr. and Irma Hamilton.
