Lawrence "Teen" Olinde

Retired from the City of New Roads, he passed away at 5:35 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Pointe Coupee General Hospital.

He was 91, a resident of New Roads and native of Jarreaus. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II who served on the USS Maryland in the South Pacific. Visiting was at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Wednesday, Jan. 30, from 11:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 PM, with Monsignor Robert Berggreen, celebrant. Entombment in False River Memorial Park Mausoleum. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Laura Ballard Olinde, of New Roads; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Charles Morgan, of Jarreau, and Deborah and David Morales, of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Eunice Chustz, of Bueche, Yvonne Woffard, of Mississippi, and Shirley Ballard, of Jarreau; grandchildren, Natalie Brown, Thomas Forbes, Andrew Morgan, Amanda Morales, Marcus Morales; and great-grandchildren, Thomas Jr., Cade, Brett, Brycyn, Devan, Aurora, Brennan. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Edmae Olinde; and brothers, Willard, Wilson, Wilsey and Hewett Olinde. Pallbearers will be David Morales, Charles Morgan, Thomas Forbes, Thomas Forbes Jr., Cade Forbes, Brett Forbes, Marcus Morales and Devan Morgan.
