A native of Plaquemine and resident of Port Allen, he was born March 8, 1923 and passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and retired from ExxonMobil Refinery in Baton Rouge after having worked for over 30 years as an electrician. He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Agnes Granier Allain; one sister, Sister Mary Victor (Theresa) Allain, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sons and daughters-in-law, James, Jr. "Eddie" and Cassandra Benedetto Allain, and Gerard and Sheila Schilling Allain; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Jennifer and Heman Catoir, Elizabeth "Betty" and Michael LeBlanc, Diane Roshto, and Tammy Morgan; fourteen grandchildren, Alaina Berthelot Rowley, Kristy Berthelot Shearer, Rebecca Roshto Todd, Craig and Brent LeBlanc, Karen LeBlanc Langland, Jessica, Victoria, and Christina Allain, Rachel Allain Phillips, Justin, Devin and Jason Allain, and Haley Morgan; fourteen great-grandchildren, Gage, Jake and Caroline Rowley, Natalie, Emily, and Hallie Shearer, Addison Todd, John Michael LeBlanc, Britt, and Brandon LeBlanc, Kathryn and Carson Langland, Blayden and Bransen Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Victor and Hilda Gascon Allain; five brothers, Arthur, Gerard, the Rev. Thomas, Harry and Willie Allain; four sisters, Louise Gibson, Mildred Granier, Sister Mary Benedict (Gladys) Allain, and Mary Lee "Pete" Barnes; one son, Bernard "Bernie" Allain; and son-in-law, Kenneth Roshto. Visitation was at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm and at Holy Family Catholic Church on Thursday, March 14, 2013 from 9:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, celebrated by Father David Allen.
