Marie Yvonne "Maw-Maw Vonnie" Desormes Gremillion, 69, a resident and a native of New Roads, was called home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, March, 19, 2013 at The Regional Medical Center of Acadiana in Lafayette, La.

Visitation was at St. Augustine Catholic Church, New Roads, La on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 8am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10am, with recitation of the rosary at 9am. Father Patrick S. Healy celebrated the Mass. Intermen followed in St. Augustine Catholic Church Cemetery. Survived by her daughter, Veronica Gremillion Terrio and husband Joesph Terrio, New Roads; son, Louis Gremillion, Sr. and wife Patrice Honore Gremillion, Erwinville; grandchildren, Kashonna and Kalayah Terrio, Aaliyah Huerta; Louis Jr. and Zachary Gremillion; Alyssa and Jayden Michael Gremillion; great grandchildren, Tayshawn Molex and Trinitee Early; brother, Alcide Desormes; sister, Annette D. Rodney and husband Douglas, both of New Roads; and many sister-in-laws, brother-in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends. Active Pallbearers: Joseph Terrio, Louis Gremillion, Jr., Stephen Boyd, Jerome Boyd, Alan Rodney, Joseph Terrell Desormes and Kelvin Desormes. Honorary Pallbearers: Louis Gremillion, Sr., Zachary Gremillion, Jayden Michael Gremillion, Tayshawn Molex, Charles Gremillion, III, Luke Gremillion, Douglas Rodney, George Boyd, Anthony Porche, Michael Porche, Michael Polar, Nathaniel Butler, Hillard Caldwell, Richard Sheppard, Gerard Desormes and George Early. She is preceded in death by her parents, Oliver Desormes, Sr. and Laura Saizon Desormes, husband, Louis Henry Gremillion; daughters Monica Ann Gremillion and Karla Monet Gremillion Huerta, brothers, Oliver Desormes Jr., Wilford Desormes, sisters, Thelma D. Boyd and Bertha D. Boyd. Verrette Funeral Home, New Roads, is in charge of the arrangements.
