Joseph Anthony "Joey" Ancona Jr.

Joseph Anthony Ancona, Jr., resident of Erwinville and a native of Baton Rouge, La, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 09, 2013 at his residence.

He was born March 15, 1958, to Joseph and Julia Guarisco Ancona. Wake services were at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 6pm until 8:30pm and at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 1pm until Mass of Christian Burial at 2pm, celebrated by Father Greg Daigle. Interment at Chenal Cemetery followed. Joey is survived by his loving and devoted Aunt and Godmother Mary Guarisco who took care of him; Aunts and Uncles Nellie Watts, Frank and Madeline Ancona, Roy and Angel Ancona, Luke Ancona, and many cousins. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Julia Guarisco Ancona; a sister Lisha Marie Ancona; maternal grandparents, Charles and Gertrude Denova Guarisco; paternal grandparents, Vince and Katherine Levera Ancona; Aunts and Uncles, Josephine and Eddie Amond, Robert Watts, Lena, Anthony and John Ancona, Catherine and V.J. Dispenza, Mary and Don James, and Vince and Velma Ancona; cousin, Brayden Watts. Joey worked at Metro Enterprise, formally "The Sheltered Workshop," a workplace for the Handicapped. He worked in the wood shop for 30 years before retiring in 2006. An avid LSU fan, Joey had a heart of gold and always had a smile on his face. He was a faithful servant of God.
