Eugenie "Jeanie" Bonin, 94, died on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at her daughter's home in Mandeville, LA.

She arrived from France as a war bride in 1946. A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, she lived in Port Allen from 1946 till 1951. She was an active member of St. Gerard Majella Parish from 1951 to 1976. She was President of the Rosary Altar Society, Mother's Club and in charge of the concession stand at school. For over 30 years she worked for Baton Rouge City Police as a school crossing guard. She was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Jude Catholic Church. Visitation was held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 10am until a mass of Christian burial will be held at 12pm. Interment followed in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by her son Bernard Bonin and daughter Nancy Dowd and her husband Patrick; 2 grandsons Russell Bonin and Simon Dowd; one niece Irene Soubeyrand and husband Georges and their two children Marc and Caroline. Jeanie is preceded in death by her husband Edward Bonin; parents; sister Madelein, 2 other sisters and 3 brothers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church or mass intentions.
