A native of Lakeland, La. and resident of Baton Rouge, he died Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Baton Rouge General Hospital, Mid-City
He was 78, a veteran of the United States Army, Honorable Discharge. He worked as a Painter. Visiting at was at Winnfield Funeral Home on Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 1-4 p.m. Service at 1 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Willie J. Green, Jr. Interment in Louisiana National Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Lula Mae Burrell Bailey; two daughters, Wanda J. Bailey Perkins (Manuel) and Sandra M. Bailey Lusk (John), both of Baton Rouge, La.; two sons, James L. Bailey, Jr. of Charleston, S.C. and Darral W. Bailey of Baton Rouge, La.; sisters, Liza Hawkins of Baton Rouge, La. and Mae Bell Bailey of Port Allen, La.; brothers, Dennis Mason of New Roads, La. and Robert Carroll of Baton Rouge, La. Preceded in death by parents, Clarence Lee and Louella Carroll; adopted parents, Eddie and Angie Bailey; three brothers, Henry, Louis and Willie Mason, Jr.; three sisters, Emma Lee Porter, Emma Lou Joseph and Margaret Ann Mason.
