Iola Wheeler entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 25, 2013, at the age of 81.
Loving and devoted mother of Gilmore, Jr. (Loretta), Ronald (Rhonda), Barbara (Huey), Michael, Kenneth (Joyce), Sherrill, Marlene (David), Darlene, Marjorie and Lester (Cynthia). Beloved sister of Artemus McFarland, Karen Ann Bevley and Deborah Bridges. Preceded in death by her parents, Artemus Buster Henderson and Maud Henderson; sister, Ivanola Jourdain; brother, Buster Jerry Henderson; and sons, Reginald and Lawrence Wheeler. Also survived by 27 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and other relatives and friends. Relatives, friends of the family, also Pastor, officers and members of St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church, Destiny Christian Center, in Laplace, LA; Fishers of Men Tabernacle, in Port Allen, LA; Holy Family, in Luling, LA; Mosque #46, Watson Memorial, and neighboring churches, as well as employees of the Internal Revenue Service, USDA-National Finance Center, Monsanto, Universoul Travel, Shear Image Hair Salon, David Tours, Northwest Human Services, Whole Food Markets, Porteous, Hainkel & Johnson, LLP, Winn Dixie, Just for Fun and AMF Bowling League were invited to attend the funeral service at St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church, 2926 Jackson Avenue, New Orleans, LA, on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., Pastor W.E. Moore, officiating. Visitation began at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment at Resthaven Memorial Park, New Orleans, LA. Arrangements entrusted to Majestic Mortuary, 1833 Oretha C.
