Iris Bergeron Bennen

Iris passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 8 a.m. at East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie at the age of 87.

She was a homemaker, native of Addis and a resident of Metairie. Visiting was at Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine on Sunday, November 3rd, from 2 to 6 p.m. Visitation continued at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Brusly on Monday, 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Matthew Dupre. Entombment followed in church mausoleum. Iris is survived by one daughter, Debby Bennen of Metairie; two sons and spouses, Craig and wife Tommie Kay Bennen of Metairie, Randal and wife Denise Bennen of Charlotte, NC; daughter-in-law, Melissa Bennen Rowell of Metairie; three sisters, Jean Clare Kershaw and husband Clifford "Cliff" of Port Allen, Beth Ann Toups of Addis, Peggy Jude Hardy of St. Martinville; five grandchildren, Heather Durant and husband James, Jordan, Brad, Joshua and George Bennen; one great-grandchild, Addie Kate Durant. Iris was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, George W. Bennen; a son, Bryan Bennen; her parents, Clement "Bib" and Addie Clement Bergeron; two brothers, C.A. Bergeron and Ted Bergeron; one sister, Marcelle "Petsy" Brecheen. Iris was a charter member of Arch Bishop Rummel/Chapelle Old Timers Club.
