Percy James Templet, Jr. passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Autumn Leaves Memory Care of The Woodlands, Texas.
He was born July 20, 1924 in White Castle, LA and was a long-time resident of Port Allen, LA; Pasadena, TX; and in later years, Pearland, TX. "Jay", as he preferred to be called, interrupted his college studies at LSU to serve his country as an army officer during WWII. His professional career was spent with Ethyl Corporation in Baton Rouge and the Houston area where he held management positions in accounting and finance. Jay was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline "Jackie" Poirrier Templet; his parents Percy, Sr. and Hilda Park Templet; and sisters Rosemary Templet, Betty Templet Cazes, and Gloria Templet Judice. Jay is survived by his brother William (Mary) Templet, Plaquemine, LA; and by six children: Linda (Mike) Allain, The Woodlands, TX; James (Bonnell) Templet, Deer Park, TX; Mark (Cheryle) Templet, Conroe, TX; John (Debbie) Templet, Conroe, TX; Paul Templet, Pana, IL; Christine (Christopher) Roberts, Summit, MS. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. For many years prior to their move back to Texas, Jay was a very active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Baton Rouge. Visitation with the family was at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine on Friday, Nov. 15, from 9:30 a.m. until a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by The Reverend Father Greg Daigle. Interment was in Ascension Catholic Church Cemetery, Donaldsonville, LA.
