The better part of one's life consists of his friendships. –A. Lincoln. Moody passed away on Monday, Nov. 25th at his home in Port Allen at the age of 60.
He was a native of Port Allen and a job superintendent with Miremont Schoonmaker Construction with over 35 years of service. Visiting was at Wilbert Funeral Home in Port Allen on Wednesday, Nov 27th from 10 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. James H. "Jimmy" Gill, Jr. Entombment followed in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Mausoleum in Brusly. Moody is survived by his girlfriend, Jeanie Pitre of Plaquemine; one daughter and son-in-law: Jennifer "Jenny" and Marshall Speights of Oscar; a son, Joseph "Ryan" Hix, Sr. of Brusly; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Toni Hix of New Roads; one sister, Diana "Kay" McGlothlin of Alexandria; four grandchildren, Samantha "Sam" and Andra "Andi" Speights, Madison "Maddie" and Joseph "Lil Ryan" Ryan Jr. Hix; former spouse of 22 years and loving friend, Kathy Hebert Hix; first wife and husband-in-law, Bridget and Keith Patin; former-in-laws, Calvin "Pop" and Mary Schoonmaker; three nephews, Brad Saizon, Brandon Newchurch and Jeremy Hix; three nieces, Shelley Hix, Richana Newchurch Lopez and Lacie Hix; godchild, Jared Hebert. Moody was preceded in death by his parents, William "Don" and Joyce Hodge Hix; one brother, Kenneth Hix. Memorial donations may be made to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and St. Jude. Pallbearers will be Woody Triche, Brent Hebert, Jared Hebert, Dean Ackerman, Jeremy Hix, David Lefeaux, Scotty Chiasson and Jake Patin.
