"God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arm around you and whispered "Come to Me."

With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away, and though we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, a precious soul at rest, God took our sweet little mama and surrendered one of our best." Our mama was born on February 22, 1910 and was 103 years old. She died on January 4, 2014. Mama was a native of Plaquemine, LA, and a longtime resident of Port Allen, LA. She lived in California for a few years during World War II, and worked at 2 defense plants where she repaired soldiers' uniforms and assembled airplane tachometers. She returned to Port Allen, and after her family had grown, she enjoyed working at downtown Godchaux's for 16 years. She was a standing member of Holy Family Catholic Church and loved her weekly hour in the Perpetual Adoration Chapel. Mama loved growing roses and daylilies and belonged to the WBR Garden Club in its early years. She won ribbons for her beautiful floral arrangements. In her early 60s, she took up oil painting. Many of her paintings grace the walls in homes of her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and prepared great family meals for her family. Some of her specialties were roast and gravy, chicken spaghetti, crawfish bisque, and shrimp and eggplant casserole. She was a wonderful wife and mother who instilled in us the importance of faith, love, and family. Mama will always be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit and was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by 3 daughters: Beverly Schlater Hulin, Sandra Levert Fauver and husband Leon (BB), Nancy Levert Marchand and husband Ray; 8 grandchildren: Timothy Hulin, Jr. and wife Peggy, Steven Hulin, Cindy Hulin Truitt and husband Michael, Michael Hulin and wife Diane, Kane Altazin, Scott Altazin, Sarah Fauver Pierce and husband Matt, and Adam Marchand and wife Leah; 18 great-grandchildren: Jennifer Crawford and husband Chris, Jamie Ellis and husband Josh, Julie Long and husband Andy, Jodi Chambers and husband Rob, Jeannette Hulin, Timothy Hulin, Shay Hulin, Jacob Truitt, Joshua Truitt, Rachel Hulin, Vaughn Hulin and wife Kristen, Hayden Hulin, Courtney Altazin, Cassidy Altazin, Cambrie Altazin, Luke Pierce, James Pierce and Michael Pierce; 9 great-great-grandchildren: Deanna Oliver, Jessica Crawford, Rebecca Crawford, Luke Crawford, Lynleigh Ellis, Trae Long, Marianne Long, Avery Chambers, and Jackson Chambers.
