Mary Aminthe Broussard

Mary Aminthe Broussard, 52, a native of New Iberia and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2014.

Aminthe was born on June 4, 1961 in New Iberia, to Fred and Helen Broussard, and later adopted by Rufus "Pop" Marin. She was a 1979 graduate of Mount Carmel Academy in New Iberia. She received her bachelor degree from USL, a Masters in Education, and a law degree from LSU. Aminthe was a beloved physics teacher at New Iberia Senior High for 10 years, before going back to school to obtain her law degree. While living in New Iberia, Aminthe was an organist for St. Peter's Catholic Church. After working in the private practice of law in Baton Rouge, Aminthe joined the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System as Assistant General Counsel. Family was at the center of Aminthe's life. She is survived by her loving husband of thirty three years, Deacon Patrick J. Broussard, Jr; her mother Helen Marin; her daughter and son-in-law, Alissa Broussard Gaudet and Jacques; son, Stuart Broussard; her grandchildren, Anna and Ellie Gaudet; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Lena Lahasky and Andrew, Lydia Hoffman and Richard, and JoAnn Ligi and Joe; her brother and 2 sisters-in-law, David Broussard and Carol and Kim Broussard. She was preceded in death by her father Fred Broussard; her adoptive father Rufus "Pop" Marin; and her brothers Fred Broussard, Jr and Russell Broussard. Aminthe's love and kindness were infectious. She lived a joyous and happy life. She was a wonderful wife, a caring mother, grandmother and a compassionate friend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jubilee Campaign at Holy Family Church, PO Box 290, Port Allen, LA 70767 or in support of Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital by giving to Our Lady of the Lake Foundation, Po Box 84357, Baton Rouge, LA 70884. Services were held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Port Allen, Louisiana with a vigil and visitation on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Bishop Robert Munch, con-celebrated by Priest of the Dioceses. Deacons of the Dioceses of Baton Rouge assisted at the services. Entombment was held at 2 p.m. at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia, Louisiana.
