Port Allen, Brusly look toward volleyball playoffs

The Port Allen Lady Pelicans defeated a longtime rival and achieved a milestone in volleyball action last week, while Brusly sought to keep solid ground for the upcoming playoffs. 

Playoff pairings will be announced Monday afternoon.

Here’s a look at last week’s action.

PORT ALLEN 3, REDEMPTORIST 0 -- Port Allen defeated longtime rival Redemptorist 3-0 (25-11, 25-21 and 25-16) to remain unbeaten in Division IV, District 2 action. 

Jmyrehea Douglas led Port Allen with 15 kills and three assists, while Rhecie Lee had seven kills, five assists and five digs. Rhea Lee notched six assists, two digs and two blocks.

It marked the first time Port Allen swept Redemptorist in volleyball action.

BRUSLY 3, GLEN OAKS 0 – The Lady Panthers won off sets of 25-4, 25-8 and 25-8 against GOHS. 

Johnee LeBlanc led Brusly with six kills and four aces. Kylie Tolar had two kills, six asces and nine assists, while Carlie Comeaux posted one kill and seven aces. 

PORT ALLEN 3, NORTHEAST 0 – The Lady Pelicans defeated the Lady Vikings on sets of 25-11, 25-17 and 25-8.

Jamyrehea Douglas tallied 18 kills for PAHS, while Rhea Lee had 13 assists, three digs and three aces. Rhecie Lee posted four aces, four assists and five digs. 

PARKVIEW BAPTIST 3, BRUSLY 0 – The Lady Panthers fell for the second time against district leader Parkview on scores of 25-14, 25-11 and 25-15.  Johnee LeBlanc led Brusly with seven kills, four aces and one dig. Kylie Tolar had one kill, 14 assists and one dig. Chloe Richard finished with six kills and seven digs.

PORT ALLEN 3, CHRISTIAN LIFE 1 – Port Allen used a 25-21 win in the fourth set to outlast CLA 3-1. Port Allen won the first set 25-7 and third set 25-14. 

Christian Life posted a 25-20 win in the second set.

Gabrielle Thomas paced Port allen with 11 kills, 12 digs and five aces. Rhea Lee had 14 assists, six blocks and six digs, while Rhecie Lee had six assists, five kills and 10 digs.
