The Panthers’ basketball season concluded Tuesday night after #19-seeded Brusly High fell short in the second round of LHSAA division 3A playoffs against #3-seeded U-High, losing 72-55
Tuesday’s game was the third time the Cubs and Panthers, who are both in division 7-3A, met on the court this season.
“I felt like the third time could be a charm, but it just didn’t happen,” said Panthers’ Head Coach Harold Boudreaux.
Brusly began to fight back in the final quarter, but U-High remained in the lead 62-54 in the final minute of the game.
Michael Bryant led the Panthers’ scoring attack with 15 points, followed by Shawn Freeman with 14. The Cubs’ defense was able to hold Brusly standout senior center, Travin Thibodeaux, to 10 points, though Thibodeaux did hit a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds in the game.
Brusly finished the season with a 16-16 overall record.
