The Port Allen Pelicans ended their season last week in the third round of LHSAA playoffs, ending what many thought could have been a championship season.

After defeating Independence in the first round, #5-seeded Port Allen was matched against #12-seeded Port Barre for the second round in a game that was originally scheduled for Tuesday night at home. Due to Tuesday’s icy weather conditions, the game was rescheduled for Wednesday night.

The Pelicans crushed the Red Devils 72-40 Wednesday in the regional round. Nick Parker, Ishmael Lane, and Nigel Allen each scored 15 points, sharing the lead for points scored. Marcus Keyes earned 12 more points for the Pels.

But the Pels got a taste of defeat in the quarterfinals Friday night, as they fell to #4 Richwood.

The Rams brought the Pelicans’ season to a close after defeating the Pels 79-55.

Nick Parker was Port Allen’s leading shooter with 15 points.

The Pelicans ended their season with a 22-8 overall record.
