Brusly’s Lady Panthers were 4-1 this week.
“We played some good competition this week,” said head softball coach Beau Bouvier. “And we earned some quality wins. I was very pleased with the way we played, especially against East Ascension.”
Monday, the Lady Panthers defeated East Ascension 4-0, and dominated Berwick 12-1 on Thursday.
In the St. Amant Tournament, Brusly beat Hahnville Friday 7-6. Saturday, the team’s only loss ended 14-4 against Madison Central.
“They took advantage of our mistakes, but overall we had four wins over very good teams,” said Bouvier.
The Lady Panthers rebounded with a 4-1 win over Live Oak.
“Just a few weeks ago, Live Oak beat us 11-0,” said Bouvier. “It wasn’t our best game, but I knew we could play better. This time, we were ready to go. We focused on the game and responded well.”
Bouvier said that the Panthers’ impeccable pitching game helped boost the team to the wins during the week, led by Carli Jo LeBlanc and Hannah Gaudet.
“Our pitching was strong in all four of the games we won,” He said. “Carli Jo LeBlanc pitched against East Ascension, Hahnville, and Live Oak for us, and Hannah Gaudet pitched the Berwick game.”
This week, Brusly will face False River Tuesday, St. Amant Wednesday, and E.D. White Thursday.
The Lady Panthers will then host a 21-team tournament this weekend. Brusly will play Assumption at 4 p.m. and Vandebilt at 6 p.m. on Friday, then Opelousas Catholic at noon and Caldwell at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
