BHS junior rallies for 33 points
Junior Donkita Williams delievered a sizzling 33-point performance to lead Brusly to a 54-46 win over former district rival Redemptorist last week in the Parkview Baptist Tournament.
Williams also went 9-of-15 from the free throw line to help pace the Lady Panthers.
Brusly opened with a 17-4 advantage over the Lady Wolves, which included 10 points by Williams and another six by Madison LaPrairie.
Redemptorist fired back in the second quarter with a 22-point output that finished the first half with a 30-26 Brusly lead.
Brusly outscored Redemptorist by one point in the third quarter, but held the Lady Wolves to six points in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
Akiya Thymes had a one-point bucket for Brusly in the third quarter.
In other action, a slow start proved costly for Brusly in a 38-18 loss to Doyle.
Doyle surged ahead 17-5 in the first quarter and led 26-8 at halftime.
Brusly mustered seven points in the third quarter.
Williams led BHS with eight points. She went 2-for-5 from the free throw line. Brianna Granville netted five points for Brusly.
The Lady Panthers compete Dec. 6-8 in the University High Tournament. Brusly faces Dunham at 4 p.m. Thursday, Ascension Catholic at 5:15 p.m. Friday and East Iberville at 1:45 p.m. Saturday.
Brusly entertains Parkview on Monday, and travels to Baton Rouge the following Dec. 14 and 15 for competition in the Episcopal Tournament.
