For many attending the rivalry basketball game Friday between the Port Allen Pelicans and the Brusly Panthers, the slam dunk by the Pels’ Ishmael Lane just a minute into the game may have foreshadowed the outcome of the game itself – Port Allen would slam Brusly, 71-45.

School board narrows search to four

The West Baton Rouge School Board voted Wednesday evening, May 21, to reduce the number of candidates vying for the position of parish schools’ superintendent down to four candidates.

The vote to narrow the pool came on the heels of the board’s decision to add three names to the list of five, bringing the list of top candidates to eight.
