The Brusly High School baseball team enters post-season action next week, while Port Allen’s season came to an end Monday.

The Panthers topped Runnels 4-1 to close the regular season, while Port Allen defeated Pointe Coupee Central 14-1 in its season finale.

Brusly was ranked ninth in the LHSAA power rankings released last week, but the revised standings could nudge them either direction.

The current standing would pit the Panthers against Rayne, from District 5-3A.

Here’s a look at action from last week

BRUSLY 4, RUNNELS 1 – The Panthers grinded out six hits in the regular season finale.

Blake Manola broke the ice after three scoreless innings when he scored after Cullen Prejean reached on a fielder’s choice.

The Panthers padded their lead off two runs in the fifth. Cameron Wilis scored on a Kwanston Adkins single, while Beau Witty reached home after Taylor Prejean reached on an error at third.

Witty scored in the seventh on a throwing error.

Josh Morris homered for Runnels.

PORT ALLEN 14, PCC 1— Pointe Coupee Central took the opening lead, but the Pelicans scored three unearned runs and never looked back.

A nine-run rally in the third frame sealed the fate for the Cougars, who ended their season 7-16.

Port Allen closed its season 7-22.

Robert Purnell pitched all five innings. He struck out 10.

Purnell also went 1-for-2 with a double and two runs.

WFHS pulled off the win despite three errors.
