The Westside 7-year-old-All-Star team from West Baton Rouge parish claimed the Cal Ripken Babe Ruth league state championship on Tuesday, July 2 in Kentwood.
The team finished 6-1 and came back to beat the Pierre Part All-Stars twice to claim the championship in a 16-8 win.
Connor Kimball was named the tournament’s MVP for the Westside Allstars.
Coaches are Clayton Hurdle, Randall Loup and Kevin Kimball. Players come from the Port Allen, Brusly, Addis, Erwinville and Grosse Tete communities.
This team also took two other championships this season: The Madisonville Tournament June 7-8 and the Father’s Day Classic in Addis.
The team will travel to Regional competition this weekend in Long Beach, Mississippi.
