The 2013 football season rolls into gear when Port Allen entertains Albany in varsity and junior varsity action in the Placid Refining Jamboree.
Festivities begin at 6 p.m. at Guy Otwell Stadium.
Port Allen greets an Albany team that brings Blaine Westmoreleand to the field the first time as Hornet head coach. The Hornets finished 1-8 last season.
The 13 returning starters incluce running back Josh McCain, quarterback Skylar Lehmann and wide receiver Tanner House.
PAHS head coach Guy Blanchard said his main conern revolves around his own team.
“I’m not as concerned about Albany as I am concerned about us,” he said. “The question is whether we can get better from last Friday night and prepare for the next Friday night.
“That’s the most important thing,” Blanchard said. “We need to do the things a team needs to do to be successful, and that means no stupid penalties, breakdowns or missed assigments.
“If we can do that, the other things will take care of themselve,” Blanchard said.
