Lady Pels volleyball endures tough week on court

Port Allen’s Lady Pels beat one of their three opponents last week in volleyball.

“They gave it their best,” said Coach Wayne Conaway. “They played hard, they hung in there, and they didn’t quit. We just played better teams. They played to the end, and that’s all you can ask for.”

Monday, September 23, the Pelicans crushed Capitol, winning three of the four matches.

Two days later the ladies played against U-High, the #2 team in the state in the 2A division, resulting in a brutal loss for the Pelicans, who were defeated in three matches.

The Lady Pels lost three straight matches to Brusly’s Lady Panthers the following day.

“With only three retuning members, we have a lot of new girls playing,” said Coach Conaway. “We just need to play more games and get more experience; you can’t beat experience.”
