Lady Panthers set sights for district championship

Brusly’s Lady Panthers had another successful week in volleyball, dominating Livonia, West Feliciana, and St. John.

“We are playing better volleyball each week,” said Coach Karen Wooley. “We are aiming for a district championship.”

 Monday, October 14, Livonia traveled to Brusly where the Wildcats were beaten in all three matches: 25-17, 25-14, 25-7. Abigail Eilers served 10 of the Panthers’ points, including two aces, and Caitlyn Williams had six kills.

Wednesday, the Panthers took on the West Feliciana Saints at home. Brusly again dominated, winning in three matches: 25-18, 25-14, and 25-15. Caitlyn Williams had six kills and Shelby Willis had five. Chloe Richard served up six aces, while Claire Daigle had 14 digs.

The next day, Brusly travelled to St. John. The Panthers won the first match 25-18, but the Eagles came back to win the second, 25-16. In the third match, Brusly ended ahead 25-13, but St. John won the following match 25-18. After a close final match, the Lady Panthers came out victorious with a 15-12 win. Caitlyn Williams earned 14 kills, Johnee LeBlanc had 13 kills, and Brianna Granville had 12. Chloe Richard dug the ball 17 times and delivered seven aces, serving 14 points for the Lady Panthers while Keeley Martin served 13.

Brusly plays Parkview Monday night at home for the Pink Game and Baker Wednesday at Baker. The Panthers will also participate in the Terrebone Tournament Saturday.
