Port Allen's Lady Pels played Madison Prep, Tuesday, December 3rd at home, losing 76-35.
The girls were off to a promising start, catching up to tie the Lady Chargers 11-11, with five minutes before the half, but by halftime, Madison Prep had taken a 17 point lead, 20-37.
Freshmen Pels Trinity Johnson and Mikayla Johnson scored the majority of the team's points, earning 11 and 10 points, respectively.
With so much potential for the two freshmen, Port Allen Head Coach Coach Demetrius White sees very bright futures for both girls.
"We have about 10 players, seven of which are freshmen," said White. "Our oldest returning member is a sophomore, and she's having to fill the leadership role. We're basically starting from scratch and rebuilding the team. They're lacking the experience, and that's a big thing. The girls aren't used to the speed of the game and the physical strength of the other teams. I knew coming it that it would be a challenge, but I just keep telling girls we just have to keep working."
