Brusly’s Lady Panthers defeated all three of their opponents at the Episcopal Tournament over the weekend.
The ladies began their successful weekend with a 53-34 win over Welsh High on the shoulders of Madison Laprarie, who scored 21 of the team’s 53 points.
“Madison played very well,” said Coach Shaeeta Williams. “One thing we never question is her ability to shoot, and she shot extremely well this weekend.”
In the following game, the Lady Panthers beat the Episcopal Knights 43-30. Laprarie and Donkita Williams each earned 12 points for Brusly, while Kelsey Parker scored an additional 11 points for the Panthers.
“Kelsey did a great job on both offense and defense,” said Coach Williams. “She stepped up and really helped us out.”
The team concluded the tournament with a 44-33 victory over Pearl River. Laprarie scored 12 points, while Parker, Williams, and Shedricka Pierson each had eight points.
“It’s great to see the team’s growth,” said Coach Williams. “This tournament proved that if we do the small things, like take care of the ball and rebound, we can be a pretty good team. I’m really proud of how we played as a team.”
