PAHS girls begin Powerlifting season

The Port Allen girls powerlifting team began its quest Saturday for a fifth consecutive state championship in the Kay Fenton Memorial Meet at Episcopal High School.

The Lady Pels competed against teams from all around the state - West Monroe (5A), Chalmette High (5A), Pope John Paul (2A), Zachary High (5A), Slidell High (5A), Walker High (5A), Broadmoor High (5A), and Woodlawn High (5A).

“As a team, I think we did pretty good,” Coach Brian Bizette said. “This year’s team is probably the most talented I’ve coached, but I do think they need more experience. I think we have a pretty good shot at winning the state championship.”

Port Allen Winners included:

Kailyn Smith, first place

Brittany Wilson, second place.

Charity Winfield, third place.

Jai'da Murphy, third place.

Rebekah Tucker, third place.

Destiny Washington, third place.

Ashley Honore third place.

Tyzhanique Montague, third place.

Raven Nicole's fifth place.

Jasmine Collins fifth place.

Mia Darville sixth place.

Mi'Angel Nicole's sixth place

Regional competition will be held at Louisiana School for the Deaf. State competition takes place in Monroe.
