Local volleyball teams Looking for answers

Frustrating times loom for both local volleyball teams.

Brusly breezed past Lee in the district opener earlier in the week, but hit a roadblock against Parkview Baptist.

The Panthers are 1-1 in district, something the Panthers don’t like at this point.

“Not at all,” head coach Karen Wooley. “We need to step on the court and be ready to play.”

Brusly lost 25-11, 25-11 and 25-13 in the outing last week against Parkview’

Former Pels make key plays in Grambling win

Former Port Allen High football standouts Jestin Kelly and L. J. Parker helped Grambling defeat Jackson State 40-35 Saturday. Parker helped block a punt early in the game. Kelly scored the game-winning touchdown for his team’s first victory of the season.

Slow start stifles PAHS at Livonia

Port Allen’s offensive stats almost matched those of neighboring rival Livonia, and neither team committed a turnover.

The Pelican offensive showing was relatively solid, but the difference came in the form of a star senior running back and an up-and-coming quarterback.
