The Panthers lost to the North Vermillion High School Patriots on Tuesday, May 5. After leading 5-2 into the seventh inning, the Panthers lost ground, resulting in a tie game. Two more runs in the eighth inning brought the score to 7-5. The Panthers were unable to answer those runs and the game ended, 7-5, North Vermillion. The Panthers Twitter account, @coach_dupont shortly posted: "Words can't express how I feel about this senior class, a great group of young men. I know they are all destined to do great things. #family"
Brusly pitcher Austin Reich may have been glad to see some of his former teammates last Friday night, but he showed them no mercy once he hit the mound, leading the Panthers to an 11-0 shutout in first round bi-district playoff fare.
“Before the seeding came out, I knew there was a possibility that we could match-up with Livonia [High School],” Reich said. “I was hoping it would be anybody but them, even though I felt we had an advantage over them.”
