Westside Bulldogs youth football spreads holiday cheer with bike giveaway

During the football season, the Westside Bulldogs youth football program teaches its players the ins and outs of the game of football, while also striving to build the character of its players. 

This character building is continuing into the off-season as the Bulldogs gave back to the Port Allen community in their first ever Christmas Adopt-a-Kid bike Giveaway and Adopt-a-Family gift giveaway held last Monday at the Port Allen Community Center.

Lady Pels improve to 5-5

Demetrius White will gladly take his team’s mid-season record over the same time a year ago.

But it doesn’t mean he’s content with it.

The Lady Pelicans headed into the Christmas holidays 5-5 after a 50-30 win Thursday against St. James.

It’s not a bad Christmas gift for a team that went 0-26 last season.

“It shows we’re improving and taking some major steps forward,” White said. “We lost all twenty-three games last year, but the one thing we got out of it was a ton of experience.
