The Brusly Panthers softball team hosted the Brusly High School Softball Tournament at Alexander Park over the weekend and clearly showed those in attendance that there is something to a home field advantage as they went 4-0 on the weekend.

Brusly, Port Allen battle in Zachary Bronco Relays

Brusly and Port Allen made their presence known Friday among top programs in the Louisiana Farm Bureau Insurance Relays Zachary Bronco Relays at West Feliciana High School.

The Brusly boys placed fourth with 60 points, just ahead of Port Allen (52). Zachary dominated the event with 152 points, doubling the showing for runner-up St. Amant. West Feliciana notched 65, while Central placed sixth. Broadmoor, Wilkinson County, Northeast and East Feliciana rounded out the competition.

Blanchard resigns

Blanchard resigned Monday as Port Allen head football coach.

He announced his decision after he met with PAHS principal James Jackson and West Baton Rouge Parish Superintendent of Schools Wes Watts.

Hebert leads Pels in win over W. Castle

Port Allen made the most of its sole opportunity for baseball action after a full week of rainouts.

Junior Alex Hebert struck out 10 in a complete game to lead the Pelicans to an 11-9 win over White Castle in the Plaquemine High School Sam Distefano Classic.

The Pelicans (4-3) extended their winning streak to four games after an 0-3 start.
