PORT ALLEN – A few big plays for Port Allen – coupled with a lot of mistakes and penalties for Albany – led to a victory Thursday for the Pelicans in jamboree action.
It wasn’t just the Saints who went marching in to the Superdome for their last pre-season football game of the year last Thursday, August 28. West Baton Rouge Parish’s Westside Bulldogs and the Brusly Panthers youth football teams sent their “A” teams to experience what, for many, was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to play football in the Dome.
The wait is over.
The stadiums will fill amid high energy and bright lights when high school football resumes this week throughout the state.
Jamboree action comprises the schedules for both local teams.
Port Allen kicks off its season tonight (Thursday) when the Pelicans entertain Albany in junior varsity and varsity action in the Placid Oil Refinery Jamboree at Guy Otwell Stadium.
