Local squads draw volleyball playoff berths

Seasons came to an end last week for many high school volleyball teams statewide, but not for Brusly or Port Allen.

Both squads head into the post-season dance, with one squad staying home and the other heading out on the road.

Brusly, a No. 11 seed in the Division III bracket, hosts 22nd-seeded Evangel Christian in first-round action at 5 p.m. Thursday at the BHS Gymnasium.

Booneville, Miss. - Nobody can blame the Northeast Mississippi Community College basketball coaching staff or players if they seem a bit giddy or elated with less than one week remaining before the 2014-15 campaign begins.

The Lady Tigers and Tigers annunciated their joy and enthusiasm to local journalists as part of their annual media day event inside legendary Bonner Arnold Coliseum last Tuesday.
