The Port Allen High School volleyball team has grown in numbers, adding enough freshman to the roster to create the school’s first ever All Freshman Volleyball Team.
Brusly High’s head football coach, Erik Willis is eager to kick off the season with the Panthers opening game against the St. John Eagles Friday at 7 p.m. at Brusly.
Local teams served up impressive showings in the season opener for high school volleyball.
Brusly and Port Allen each went 2-1 in the Westside Jamboree last Tuesday at Brusly High School
St. John was the only team among 16 schools to finish undefeated in the tournament.
SJHS dealt Brusly its only loss of the tourney (25-20). BHS posted wins over Scotlandville (25-4) and Donaldsonville (25-10).
“I was happy with how we did, although I thought we could’ve done a little better against St. John,” Brusly coach Karen Wooley said. “But I think we’re looking good at this point.”
Port Allen, meanwhile chalked victories over White Castle (15-14) and False River Academy (25-16). Walker toppled the Lady Pelicans 25-16.
