Youth league Panthers claw their way to first victory

After a rainstorm put a damper on the Brusly Panthers Youth Football’s first team game experience at the jamboree in Donaldsonville the weekend of August 30, commissioner Randall “Blue” Gay and his coaches knew they had a lot of work to do to get ready for their first regular season home game this past Saturday at Brusly High School.

BRUSLY – A drawback of a senior-laden team comes from the knowledge that several team leaders will be missing on the next year’s roster.

The loss of those seniors led to a bumpier ride during the first week of action for Brusly – but now things are taking shape for BHS.

The Panthers notched their first win of the season Monday with a 3-0 win over McKinley (25-14, 25-11, 25-14).


Brusly shuts out St. John

The Brusly High Panthers (Class 3A) faced the Class 1A St. John Eagles in their season opener last Thursday, September 4 at Canova Field at Plaquemine High School.  

It was a defensive showdown that ultimately ended with the Panthers shutting out the Eagles 14-0.
