After a rough week, where the Brusly High girls basketball team saw an end to their 6-game win streak and relinquishing of their first place position in District 7-3A, the Lady Panthers showed that they were the queens of the court last week as they beat both of their opponents – Port Allen and Belaire — by a combined total of 55 points.
Those looking for a good basketball game between in-parish rivals Port Allen and Brusly weren’t disappointed as the two teams served fans a nail-biter last Tuesday in the Brusly High gym.
Port Allen closed the week with a district win over Baker, but bigger tests loom for the Pelicans.
The next week should say plenty about the direction of Port Allen basketball, and the rest of District 7-3A for that matter.
The Pels head into the week 14-3 and unbeaten in district action.
“We’re actually one game better than we were on our record from last year at this time,” head coach Brandon Ricard said. “I also think we’re playing better at this point than we were at this time last season.”
