Shantrell Pierson owns a spot among the elite in high school girls’ basketball – yet it’s not how she wants people to remember her.

Skill and coordination played a hand in the success of the 2010 Brusly High School graduate and 2013 alumna of University of Louisiana-Monroe. But it took something much deeper that helped her reach her goals.


Port Allen’s Marcus Keyes verbally commits to ULL

Port Allen Pelican Marcus Keyes gave himself the best 18th birthday present he could ask for when he verbally committed to play football for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette this past Monday.

Port Allen Head Coach Guy Blanchard said that he was notified Monday by Keyes that after a lot of praying with his family, Keyes called Ragin’ Cajun Head Coach Mark Hudspeth and confirmed his verbal commitment to play.
