Brusly, Port Allen post wins in volleyball action

The Brusly Lady Panthers won two games last week in prep volleyball action.


Port Allen, meanwhile, picked up a victory in its one contest last week.


In action Monday, the Lady Panthers  (15-8, 3-1) overcame a loss in the first set to defeat Catholic-Pointe Coupee 3-1 in a non-district outing.
CHSPC topped Brusly 25-13 in the first set. The Lady Panthers followed with wins of 25-22, 27-25 and 25-17 for the victory.

Pelicans survive four turnovers for victory

Port Allen defeated St. James, but concern etched the face of head coach Guy Blanchard after the Pelicans won their District 7-3A opener Friday night.


The Pelicans survived four turnovers to defeat the struggling Wildcats 28-6 at Guy Otwell Stadium.
“It’s a win, and ugly wins are better than pretty losses any day,” he said.

Brusly cruises past E.D. White 43-7

Panthers climb to No. 7 in LSWA Class 3A polls

THIBODAUX — Brusly headed to E.D. White with no shortage of motivating factors.

Last week, BHS came out on the short end of a 13-12 contest at Livonia.

An, oh yes, it was the District 7-3A opener. Both factors helped the Panthers coast past the Cardinals 43-7 at Yockey Bernard Field at Harvey Peltier Stadium.

Conaway optimistic about Lady Pelicans

The Port Allen volleyball team could venture into long-unchartered territory, provided the Lady Pelicans cross a few before the end of the season.

The Lady Pelicans (7-8) stand a chance to win their first district championship since 1995.
