Brusly swimmer takes butterfly championship

Anyone who knows anything about high school swimming knows that Catholic High - Baton Rouge rakes up the medals in pretty much every competition they are involved in.

Just like last year, Catholic High won the team title at the Capital City Swim League Championships held at Crawfish Aquatics on Sunday, Nov. 1.

As I watch the Brusly High football team practice on a hot October afternoon with a backdrop of sugarcane and Cinclare's historic profile, it is not lost on this city girl that I am watching the epitome of small town football where the type of football stories like "Friday Night Lights" are told.

UPDATE: The Lady Panthers defeated West Feliciana High School on Tuesday, Oct. 27, in a 3-0 shutout.

The Brusly girls volleyball team may have gotten a wakeup call in the week before post-season playoffs begin.

The Lady Panthers finished 1-4 in tournament action Friday, Oct. 23, and Saturday, Oct. 24, at The Dunham School.
