Regardless of their records, the annual rivalry game between the Port Allen Pelicans the Brusly Panthers is one of the most anticipated of the year.

This year’s contest proved to be about more than bragging rights for the next year.

It’s safe to assume many of the players on the rosters for the Brusly and Port Allen football teams don’t need time to get acquainted.

Even as opponents, many have grown up together and quite a few are related. Some sit in the same church each Sunday. Others celebrate holidays together.

Mother Nature provided the perfect weather for the Westside Bulldogs and Brusly Youth Panthers to hold their annual rivalry games at Port Allen Middle School.

Brusly boys take swim championship

The Brusly High swim team continued to show that they plan on remaining a force in Louisiana High School swimming, as Nick Lee and the rest of the Panthers swim team racked up the points to take the boys championship at the final Capital City Swim League regular-season meet at Crawfish Aquatics last Saturday, Oct. 17.
