Now-March 24 The WBR Museum will host an exhibit, “Color of Freedom: Journey along the Underground Railroad.” The exhibit will feature 49 painting, etchings and drawings by Joseph Holston, and is organized by the Arts Program of the University of Maryland University College.

February 23 The WBRMuseum will hold a family workshop called “freedom is Coming,” from 10:30 a.m.-12 noon.

February 24 Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church will observe their annual Black History program at 12 noon.

February 24 Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church will hold its church anniversary at 1 p.m.

February 24 Union Baptist Church of Brusly will celebrate their pastor, Johnny Johnson Jr.’s, eight year pastor’s anniversary at 3 p.m.

March 2 The Regional competition for National History Day will be held at the West Baton Rouge Museum.

March 3 Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church will host their appreciation service at 1:30 p.m. for Assistant pastor, Rev. Michael P. Joseph.

March 12 The WBRMuseum will host an open hearth cooking program focusing on recipe books in the South during the Civil War. The cooking demonstration and presentation will be done by Gayle Smith.

April 13 Rougon High School will hold a reunion for the now defunct school in Pointe Coupee Parish for former students. The event will take place at Scott Civic Center in Pointe Coupee Parish. Reservations are required to attend, as there is limited space. $30 a person, and no children under 21. If you would like to attend or for more information, call Billie Militello at 270-0093.

May 4 The second annual “Stop the Bullying” Walk will take place at William and Lee Park from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., where there will be motivational speakers, food and games. For more information about the event, call Quenisha Guss at 610-3793, Shontell Harrison at 910-2032 or Letrece Adolph at 329-3279.
